Why you might enjoy a subscription

First of all, it’s free! Secondly, subscribers get full access to the newsletter and website. Finally, I don’t send updates frequently at all, so you don’t need to worry about me spamming your inbox.

When I do write, some things I will cover include:

  • Reviews of gear I’ve tested recently. I try a lot of thin japanese braids for distance casting from the shore, as well as various reels (e.g BFS baitcasters). I’ve been developing a taste for high end jerkbaits, crankbaits, and jointed glidebaits as well.

  • Seasonal reminders. I’ll post at bass prespawn/spawn/postspawn, summer, fall, and winter, with my personal strategies and observations. I live in the San Francisco bay area, so if you are interested in my reports and/or annual observations (e.g comparisons to previous years, water level observations, etc) you should subscribe since I’ll definitely post that stuff.

  • Educational content. My partner is an amazing artist and she sometimes will illustrate my fishing notes for fun. I’ll occasionally include some of her work in this newsletter! I’m also an engineer doing this as a fun side project, so pardon if I decide to get in depth about technology! Things I’ve looked extensively into in the past include making soft plastics at home, eco-friendly biobaits, how chirp sonar and down-scanning sonar work, how fishing rods are made, etc. I am hoping I’ll have time to create some of the educational stuff, since it’s very fun.

  • Multi-species angling / travel content. I bring my pack rods wherever I go, so if I catch fish somewhere new, or learn about new techniques, I’ll probably write things here — it’ll double as notes for myself.
